Sarah and Sparky Marquis founded Australia’s Mollydooker Wines in 2005 and quickly built it into a successful operation, landing their wines on the Wine Spectator Top 100 eight times, and the Top 10 three. After a seemingly amicable split, Sarah Marquis has acquired full ownership of the winery as of this spring and is making her first full marketing tour, including a stop at Dilly on August 28th!

Although Sparky was the highly visible voice of Mollydooker, Sarah is involved in all aspects of the business. She is responsible for the whimsical labels and wine names, such as the tête-de-cuvée Shiraz Velvet Glove, the entry-level Shiraz The Boxer and the Cabernet-Merlot blend Two Left Feet. The winery’s key employees remain, Sarah says, among them vineyard manager Peter Constantine and chief winemaker Peter Tavella. They have both been with Mollydooker for 10 years. “The team seems happy,” said Sarah. “They were worried we would both want to sell the winery.”

This is a PR tour for Sarah, she’s not out to push the wines, they are already allocated, and Dilly has some! Come on out for an end-of-summer night to meet Sarah, slurp some seriously delicious Aussie wines, and pair it with some fun food from the grill and more. Mollydooker wine will be for sale and we’ll probably get Sarah to sign some bottles as well as teach us all the “Mollydooker Shake”!

Mollydooker wines retail for $30 and up, so this night with food is $30 per person.
